The courses at Dhirubhai Ambani University (DAIICT) are offered in Engineering and Architecture, Sciences, Animation and Design and Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences streams. In this exclusive conversation with Careers360, Archi Jariwala, a B.Tech student, shares his experience of studying at Dhirubhai Ambani University.

Careers360: Tell us something about yourself, such as from which place you are from?

Archi Jariwala: I'm Archi Jariwala from Surat, Gujarat.

Careers360: Presently, which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?

Archi Jariwala: I'm pursuing a B.Tech in ICT currently in the 4th year.

Careers360: Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?

Archi Jariwala: Yes, the natural transition from home to college is challenging, but after some months, I learnt to start enjoying it.

Careers360: What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs, etc., for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?

Archi Jariwala: Yes, there are 22 clubs and 7 committees. I was a part of PMMC (Photography Club), DTG (Drama and Theatre Club), Radio Club, Khelaiya Club (Folk Dance Club) and Canteen Committee CMC.

Careers360: Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Archi Jariwala: First there are lectures, then lunch, then lab if any or studying or club committee activities, and then later dinner, again club activities or studying and sleep.

Careers360: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.

Archi Jariwala: Compared to other colleges, the student-teacher ratio here is way better. All the faculty members are very approachable and open to teaching and clearing doubts any time of the day. We can even contact some of them on WhatsApp; that's how approachable they all are.

Careers360: What all facilities do you have on the campus? What do you like here the most, which you feel is unique and differentiating?

Archi Jariwala: We have a fully functional 24hrs canteen with 7 food courts serving different kinds of varieties, from North Indian to South Indian, a medical centre, and, of course, hostel facilities. I love how nature is an integral part of student life here.

Careers360: How comfortable are your hostels, and how about the cleanliness factor over there?

Archi Jariwala: Hostels are cleaned twice a day, so cleanliness is not a problem.

Careers360: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?

Archi Jariwala: There are 3 hospitals near our campus. Two female doctors and one male doctor come every day. We get basic medications and medical care free of cost. Even medical insurance is provided by the college in an emergency case.

Careers360: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?

Archi Jariwala: Time management and support of peers and faculty members.

Careers360: Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant they are from your point of view or students' point of view.

Archi Jariwala: They are the most important part of student life here. Personally, the committee I was a part of has shaped my personality in many different ways in the sense of leadership qualities, communication skills, collaboration skills and management skills. It is the clubs and committees where most of the extracurricular growth happens, which no textbook can bring.

Careers360: Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?

Archi Jariwala: Yes, there is a press club that reports the latest events in their monthly publication.

Careers360: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Archi Jariwala: Reliance Cross Roads is the most visited place nearby, and the most popular hangout spot on campus is the canteen, or just taking a late-night campus round.

Careers360: How do you spend your leisure time on the campus?

Archi Jariwala: Being a part of the club activities happening on campus.

Careers360: Do you have any Facebook pages for your campus where the students express their views, jokes, or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life on campus?

Archi Jariwala: No, nothing like that. But respective clubs have their separate Insta pages where they post content related to their activities.

Careers360: What type of companies come for campus recruitment, and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?

Archi Jariwala: The recruitment drive started at the beginning of the 7th sem and goes on even after the 8th sem. Major companies that come for hiring include top companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google and Amazon.
