BITSAT Exam Pattern 2026 - BITS Pilani has published the BITSAT 2026 exam pattern on its official website, bitsadmission.com. The BITSAT exam pattern was released with the information brochure. Candidates can check the exam pattern for BITSAT 2026 on this page. Applicants should prepare using the exam pattern of BITSAT 2026. The exam pattern comprises of exam duration, mode, total marks, marking scheme, and others. The BITSAT exam will consist a total of 390 marks. The authority will conduct the BITSAT 2026 exam in two sessions. The BITSAT exam phase 1 will be conducted on April 15 to 17, 2026, and session 2 will be conducted on May 24 to 26, 2026. The BITSAT 2026 application process will end on March 16, 2026.

BITSAT Exam Pattern 2026

The paper pattern of BITSAT 2026 helps candidates familiarise themselves with the included sections, marking scheme, test duration, and more. According to the BITSAT exam pattern, the BITS admission test consists of 390 marks. The exam is conducted for a 3-hour duration. The following parts are included in the BITSAT exam

What are the Extra Questions in the BITSAT 2026 Paper?

If a candidate answers all 130 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate has the option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and Logical reasoning only; three questions from each of them. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 130 questions.

BITS Pilani Exam Pattern for BTech: Marking Scheme

All questions asked in the BITSAT exam will be of an objective type (multiple choice). Each question has a choice of four answers, only one being the correct choice. As per the BITSAT marking scheme 2026, each correct answer fetches 3 marks. As per BITSAT negative marking, each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1 mark). No marks are awarded for questions not attempted. While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as the correct answer.

BITSAT Exam Pattern 2026 - Highlights

  • There will be no time limit for individual parts of the BITSAT exam.

  • Candidates can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 130 questions.

  • The questions asked as per the exam pattern of BITSAT will be designed in a way that a good student will be able to answer 130 questions in 180 minutes.

  • The extra questions (a maximum of 12) will give a chance to highly meritorious candidates to score higher.

  • There is a negative marking for wrong answers, and any attempt to answer the questions by purely guessing the answers is not likely to have any advantage but may result in a reduction in the total score.

12 Additional Questions in BITSAT 2026 Question Paper

Candidates who complete all 130 questions in the BITSAT 2026 paper within the allotted three hours will have the opportunity to attempt an additional 12 questions if time permits. These extra questions will be distributed equally across the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and Logical Reasoning sections, with three questions from each. However, once the additional 12 questions are attempted, candidates will not be allowed to revisit or modify their answers to the initial 130 questions.
