MET 2025 Phase 1 Exam Analysis

1. Physis: The Physics section of MET 2025 had a total of approximately 25 questions, covering topics such as Mechanics, Oscillations and Waves, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Magnetism, Optics, and Modern Physics. Mechanics carried the highest weightage, with 6–8 questions focusing on concepts like kinematics, Newton’s laws, work-energy theorem, and rotational motion. Oscillations and waves contributed 2–3 questions, mostly from simple harmonic motion and wave equations. Thermodynamics and heat had 3–4 questions, generally numerical-based, testing understanding of laws of thermodynamics and calorimetry. Electrostatics and current electricity were significant, with 5–6 questions involving both conceptual and numerical problems, particularly on circuits and Coulomb’s law. Magnetism and electromagnetism had 2–3 conceptual questions. Optics, primarily ray optics, had 3–4 questions, while Modern Physics, including photoelectric effect, nuclear physics, and X-rays, contributed 3–5 moderate-level questions. Overall, the Physics section was of moderate difficulty, with a balanced mix of numericals and theory, emphasizing Mechanics, Electricity, and Modern Physics.

2. Chemistry: The Chemistry section also had around 25 questions, equally divided among Physical, Inorganic, and Organic Chemistry. Physical Chemistry had 8–10 questions, mostly numerical-based, covering Thermodynamics, Chemical Kinetics, and Chemical Equilibrium. Inorganic Chemistry had 7–8 conceptual questions, focusing on the periodic table, chemical bonding, and coordination compounds. Organic Chemistry contributed 7–8 questions, testing reaction mechanisms, functional groups, and named reactions, with emphasis on reaction prediction and problem-solving. Overall, the Chemistry section was of moderate difficulty, with a balance between theory and application-based questions across all three branches.

3. Mathematics: The Mathematics section carried around 25 questions as well, with Calculus being the most significant topic, contributing 5–6 questions on differentiation, integration, and differential equations. Algebra and Matrices had 3–4 questions, covering quadratic equations, sequences and series, and matrix operations. Vectors and 3D Geometry also had 3–4 questions, focusing on direction ratios, equations of planes, and lines. Other areas such as Probability, Statistics, and Coordinate Geometry made up the remaining questions. The Mathematics section was moderate in difficulty, requiring careful calculation and conceptual understanding, particularly in Calculus and Algebra.
