How to get B.Tech admission in IIT Madras- The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras is a dream institute for many aspirants. Each year, lakhs of students appear for the entrance exams to get admission into the institute but only a few get through. To secure admission into the IIT Madras, candidates first need to qualify JEE Main entrance examination, followed by the JEE Advanced. Only those candidates who have qualified for JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. The concerned authorities conduct the counselling process for qualified candidates. To participate, candidates have to register online for JEE Advanced counselling and seat allocation. How to get B.Tech admission in IIT Madras?
The process to get admission into the B.Tech course in IIT Madras comprises of many steps such as qualifying JEE Main and JEE Advanced entrance exams, participating in counselling and seat allotment.
Step 1 - JEE Main - The first step to get B.Tech admission to IIT Madras is to appear for the JEE Main entrance exam. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) twice each year (January and April). JEE Main has two papers - Paper 1 for B.Tech and Paper 2 for B.Arch/B.Plan. For admission in IIT Madras, candidates are required to qualify for paper 1.
Step 2 - JEE Advanced - The next step is qualifying JEE Advanced entrance examination. Joint Entrance Examination Advanced is a national-level examination conducted by one of the seven IITs that constitute the council. To appear for the entrance examination, candidates are required to qualify for JEE Main. Top 2,50,000 JEE Main qualified students are eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced exam. Candidates are made available with two different types of JEE Advanced cutoffs - qualifying cutoff and admission cutoff. Candidates have to meet the qualifying cutoff to be placed in the common rank list. The admission cutoff is the cutoff opening and closing ranks up to which an institute allows admission which is released after the counselling process. Each institute has a separate cutoff.
Step 3 - Counselling - Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the counselling of JEE Advanced qualified candidates. To participate in the JoSAA counselling, candidates have to get themselves registered and fill their choice of institute and course. The allotment of seats will be done through JoSAA 2020 counselling based on the merit of ranks in JEE Main and Advanced, availability of seats, and preferred choices.
IIT Madras BTech Cut off
Candidates seeking admission into B. Tech courses in IIT Madras will be required to meet the specified cutoff. The cutoff is the minimum mark required by the candidates to be eligible for admission. JEE Advanced cutoff for IIT Madras will include the opening and closing ranks required by the candidates to get admission to the B.Tech programmes offered by the institute.
